The Day After:

The last two days have been very busy for the team with all the media attention and interviews, but it is all good my friends. This is the kind of exposure we need to have our dream come true for without the donations their won't be a new ECG machine for the hospital! With that in mind, please keep spreading the news my friends!!

I was remiss in my last blog by not thanking a couple of individuals, believe me you have my gratitude! First of all I would like to thank Chris Littlechild from Creative Edge Graphics Inc., he's the man responsible for the wonderful banners and posters and getting Andrea and I set up on our blogs. A big thanks to Chris! Also I would like to thank Ben Burd for showing up at the first day of the media launch. I've known Ben for many years and he's been a big supporter of myself and the Cobourg Police Service. I would like to point out that Ben has a blog called the Burd Report...check it out, he's a very interesting guy. He's a good lad, but lets keep that to ourselves.

Over the course of the last two weeks I've had the chance to meet other members of the gym; it's amazing, without trying to be corny it's like a family! Okay enough of the mushy stuff, it started to sound like a Hallmark moment!

Later on this week I will give you a more serious look at what I've been doing on a daily basis such as workouts and eating...I'm sure you can't wait. Before I get to that I have to tell you what happened today...the Sarge and I went out for our route march through the wonderful hills of Northumberland. We came upon this steep slope and the Sarge said to walk down slowly, working the quads. So it all started off really good until gravity started to kick in, as you know most of my wait is in the top half so picture the following; my body started leaning forward and started to pick up speed, the Sarge is telling me to slow down...I can't. I'm now going mach 10 down a steep slope, the Sarge is now DEMANDING I slow down, that's like trying to brake an ocean liner in open water...it's not going to happen. So...now I'm going full tilt, the arms are flailing and the Sarge is now yelling (she's concerned about the possible law suit). All I can say is thank God there weren't any small children at the bottom of the hill...it would have been UGLY! Fortunately there was a marsh at the bottom and it only cost $20 to get CAA to tow me out. What really has me angry is that I had to pay! Shouldn't the Sarge pay, after all she picked the route! Okay, the story is slightly exaggerated...the Sarge did chip in half.

Well my friends I'll leave you with a quote from one of my hero's..." We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give". Sir Winston Churchill.

Have a good day folks!
Dave

  1. Dave this was hilarious! I could actually see you heading (top loaded) down that hill....does it remind you of a baseball game you once saw me play where the top went first and I was all in white angularly falling and did a face plant to now be all in brown, with a chin scrap? Yeah, funny memories! You are doing amazing, and I am still in awe at your strength and determination in what would seem to be at times humiliating, but the the good of others and cheers to your very near future success! I am proud of you and thanks to Andrea for keeping you in line...something no one else but Rosie can do...haha! Bravo to Rosie for gifting you with the personal trainer for your birthday. Such a loving wife, Rosie...you are a true pillar of strength and support. Behind every strong man is an inspirational, strong supportive women! I love you both! Keep standing strong! You are gonna beat this! Come on people Pledge already!
