Hello folks...I missed a whole week of blogs last week but it couldn't be helped. I know this blog was set up for me to talk about my weight loss challenge and to raise money for the hospital but I'm going to make an exception today...I'm sure the committee won't mind.

This blog is dedicated to my niece, Jenilee McEwen, who was involved in a terrible car accident a week ago last Sunday. Jen and her boy friend Chad were near Lindsay on their way to visit Chad's brother. I don't know the cause of the accident and at this point I don't really care, but they were t-boned at an intersection. Jen was the passenger and took the brunt of the impact. She needed to be air lifted to Sunny Brook Hospital in Toronto and had emergency surgery; severe head trauma. The surgery was required to save her life. Even after the surgery was complete the doctors said it was now up to Jen to fight for her life and they were there to support that fight...but that's all they could do. The first 24 to 48 hours were going to be crucial...we're now 192 hours later!! Jen's a fighter! This has been a nightmare for the whole family but of course more to her parents, Scott and sandy and to her brother Ian. Very proud on how they have conducted themselves in this time of crisis...some people run and hide but they held firm and have been there for Jen and i know she feels their presence! Jen is breathing on her own now but is still in a coma. We won't know the results of any brain functions for awhile but knowing Jen's fighting attitude, beautiful spirit and love of life...she'll pull through better than ever!!

Who is Jen you might ask? She's a beautiful young woman with only 22 years under her belt. She is a Registered Practical Nurse. She was born and raised in Cobourg, was involved in Highland Dancing, loves to laugh....and argue, I mean debate, with her parents, sibling, Chad, Aunts, cousins and believe it or not Uncles!! I can understand the others, but moi?! It is this sense of sticking up for herself and saying what she means that will now help her fight this battle of battles in her young life. She's a true Scottish (ancestry) beauty inclusive of freckles. She hates her freckles but those are just beauty spots Jen.
It is during these moments when we are tested and in turn truly define our character. I've always said life isn't a dress rehearsal and shouldn't be taken in baby steps...Carpus Diem! Hug your children and tell them you love them!
Please say a prayer for Jen and her family....
Love you Jen!

Another Thursday is here and another weigh-in has taken place...but I can't tell you anything. that concludes my blog today....kidding.

The Fame body building show is only two days away and i have to say how proud I am of the group from Bodilogix! I have watched the four of them go through their ups and downs, their aches and pains and the sheer dedication it takes to compete! It is really amazing to watch! This group has been building muscle since last May! Then they go on a very restrictive diet that started in November! Amazing! This sport takes place 24/7...no breaks or lapses! I have nothing but admiration for Andrea, Cindy, Chris and Devin...way to go guys and I know you'll do well at the show! If you don't...then don't show up at the gym! Oh I kill myself! I also think having the four of them doing this at the same time as helped each of them get through it. It is an individual sport but they've worked as a team and have been very supportive of each other. I do my part, you know words of encouragement that only I seem to be able to say...so encouraging that the Sarge yells at me...I'll miss those days! I guess it didn't help that I was laughing at the same time she's trying to give me crap...hey, I thought it was entertaining!

I was told today that I was being investigated for prostitution...giving away my body for money! Never thought of it that way! I guess I can now add that in my life experience file?! I think were up to about $12,000 so at least I'm not cheap!

Yesterday Trevor and Tita came in to the gym after riding their bikes all over town! Trev wanted to do some more exercise and Tita had enough. But when it comes right down to it Trev really doesn't do much when he's at the gym...he gets on the treadmill, puts it on super slow mode and then practices twirling and walking backwards like doing the moon walk! It's like watching one of the Temptations up there! Trev getting his groove on!

I drink to your health when I'm with you
I drink to your health when I'm alone
I drink to your health so often,
I'm starting to worry about my own!

I almost forgot, another 38 k walk on Monday coming up...yee haw!

We have a very busy week coming up at Bodilogix...the Fame bodybuilding show will be this Saturday! We have four folks from the gym that will be competing in the event; Andrea Johnson, Cindy Adams, Chris Littlechild and Devin Olivieri. I know they will do us proud!

Andrea wanted me to go into the event this year but for some reason they scrapped the Sumo Division...they ran out of material for the thongs! Damn, i was looking forward to it.

Also on Saturday I will be getting my head shaved! The Cops Against Cancer event will be going ahead at 2pm at Northumberland Mall. Apparently 21 officers will be participating from as far away as Kingston! I have no doubt the cameras will be in full action that day!
Talking about cancer...the Relay for Life is coming up in June, another great event which i will have the honour of participating in with my great friend Trevor and family!

Yesterday morning I was in charge of the gym...just helping out the Sarge. About 8:45am I received my first phone call from her about a Detox Seminar that was going ahead that afternoon and that i needed to set up some chairs. No problem, i can handle that. I didn't know it was necessary to have a seminar about "detoxing"...I usually do that every morning! Anyways, after the phone call I had to ..."detox" so I attended Bodilogix Headquarters, in this case the men's change room. As I was contemplating the meaning of life the phone rang again! Fortunately being a dedicated volunteer at the gym i had brought the portable phone in with me. Well if it wasn't Andrea again! So here I am trying to detox while she's talking in one ear about detoxing and I have my ipod in the other ear listening to the Rolling Stones singing " I can't Get No Satisfaction"! Life has a funny way of unfolding at times!

Remember to follow your dreams...except the one where your naked in church!

The other day the sarge was wearing a fluorescent yellow shirt...now that was bright! It was like looking at the sun...I'm sure I got my full dose of vitamin D for a week!

and there are wood ships.
The ships that sail the sea,
but the best ships are friendships,
and may they always be!

Another Thursday morning blog...not really a lot to report. I started off focused this week and it came crashing down near the end. Feeling a little off but that happens to all of us at times. So...no weight loss this week, still sitting at 92 pounds lost.

It would appear that the hiking gang wants to participate in a hike in Trenton near the end of the month in support of the Trenton Hospital. The walk is 22 k's...a walk in the park these days. I'll probably join them. It will help the Trenton hospital and with my own training.

Considering we have been talking a lot about walking i thought this was an appropriate quote..."Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend"....Unknown.

I hope to be positive about being on the negative side next week.

I see a few individuals fell for my April Fools blog! I know there was more but they're just not admitting it!
I had a good Easter...a little too much junk but that's okay, I planned for it. I don't call this my life style change anymore, it's my life style schedule...my book will be out next year. I don't think I can always look at food as simply fuel for my body, I need to enjoy food a little more than that. So I have a life style schedule now...I haven't told the Sarge yet, I'm sure she'll be impressed! Anyways it very basic, most of the time I will eat for fuel and then plan for certain holidays and occasions to indulge a little more without feeling guilty. Pretty simple really...it needs to be simple so I can follow it!
We had a great hike last Friday...35 k's were completed. We had the largest turn out so far, eleven people started the journey and seven completed the whole thing. The other folks were only schedule to complete half the route because of other commitments. I myself just refer to them as quitters...kidding! It was great to see Big Bob out there...I think enjoyed the walk and the fresh air. We had some injuries along the way...poor Cindy couldn't complete the last three K's as her feet were totally shot...mutant blisters! She wore shoes that weren't meant for this kind of thing, a lesson was learned I believe. Rhonda phoned me the next day as her feet had swollen, were blotchy and she could feel the heat coming off of them! Dr. Dave gave her some advice....suck it up buttercup! Welcome to the real world! Naw, I didn't say that, I'm not like the Sarge. She had worn the wrong socks...you should wear socks that are the wicking kind or what Doris told me on the hike a sock that is made of smart wool. If you don't wear the right equipment you'll be in a world of pain!
Anyways my knees were completely fine during the walk...no braces at all, but I ended up with a painful (is there any other kind) shin splint at about the 10 k mark. It's still sore.
The next walk is planned for April 19th.

GREAT NEWS!! I weighed in this morning and I reached the 100 pound mark!! Wow...what a relief! More to go though.

We have a record number of folks joining in on the hike tomorrow which is terrific. I think we have about ten people. The weather is supposed to be warm so I'll be leaving the big orange coat at the gym. In fact it's way too big for me now anyhow...anybody want an orange coloured family tent?! Maybe the Sarge will hang it up on a gym wall...a bodilogix hall of fame. Or it could also be used as a drape for the bay doors!

F. Scott Fitzgerald once said...." The test of a first rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function". That's very interesting because recently I was debating in my mind about global warming...is there such a thing or not? But...on top of that I was thinking that a cold beer and pizza would be perfect right now! So, not only did I have opposed ideas I was also thinking of a third idea! I must be special...people tell me I'm special all the time. I just don't understand why they throw their hands up in the air and shake their heads when they say it though? I guess some people speak with their hands.
Did you know that a car travelling 100 mph would take more than 29 million years to reach the nearest star. I can just imagine the kids in the back of the car...."are we there yet?".

APRIL FOOLS!! I didn't reach the 100 pound mark yet...I couldn't resist.

I wish everyone a Happy Easter or Passover this weekend! If your not so inclined then take the time to enjoy your family and freinds on this long weekend...and drive safe!
